Sort of lost my momentum for a daily post in this blog- basically because last week was just plain ugly. After my big loss on Wednesday I immediately gained weight the next day and bounced up and down within a half pound the rest of the week. (Did you really want to hear my whining about that for6 days?? lol) FINALLY this morning the scale took a real downturn. TWO pounds down to be exact. Hurray!
Ok.. Quick update-I took my last shot on Sunday and today I finish up my last 500 calorie day. Tomorrow I start the 3 weeks of no starch/no sugar maintenance. Yea! I am really looking forward to a bigger variety in my food choices! Dr Bird told me today that I should take my weight tomorrow and multiply it by 11 to get the number of calories I can eat. I'm not big on calorie counting so I think I will just fall back on my good old Zone diet (which will be well under that calorie count). I know my body likes it and I'm comfortable with the logistics of it. Mmmmm.. Can hardly wait to sink my teeth into some broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, grapes, omelets, cottage cheese..... well, you get the idea! LOL
Its been quite an adventure and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. I am now wearing clothes comfortably that I couldn't even zip up when this started- down at least 2 sizes. Its a wonderful feeling of freedom to walk around without carrying all that extra weight. My knees still complain (just not quite as loud!) but there is a huge difference. Before, every step was painful, now I can manage to walk around and enjoy shopping in a store for up to 15 minutes before looking for a place to sit down. All in all, I would say it is a total success. I'm so glad I decided to take the leap!

Day 43 Likin' the Scales Today!
Still fighting the cold, so that's no fun, but, I'm really enjoying having a loss two days in a row! Yea! I did have a nice visit with Dr Bird yesterday. He ran over the maintenance diet with me.. sad to say, whole wheat flour is still flour, which equals starch. Bummer. He said there was no problem with continuing doing 42 days as many rounds as you need to and that there was no reason to space them further than 5 1/2 to 6 weeks apart. So, guess I will be on a 500 calorie diet for longer than I care to think about this year! LOL But it sure will be fun to be a normal weight for the first time in many a year!

Day 41 Are We There Yet?
Let me preface this post by saying I'm coming down with a cold. My head hurts, my body aches and I'm feeling generally yukky. Which will give you a general idea of my mood right now. (not cheerful!) LOL
That being said, I have to say I am ready to be done with this round. I am past ready for some variety in my food choices. It doesn't make it any easier that I've GAINED weight the last 2 days. ERG Even though I know that my body does this, its still painful to get on the scales in the morning and see those numbers up twice in a row. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll have a nice break through. In the meantime, I'm trying hard to be patient till next Thursday when I can have some REAL veggies like broccoli! Tomorrow will probably be my last appointment with Dr Bird so I plan on really picking his brain about what comes next.. like how long should my next protocol be. I'm reading conflicting things online. Some people say you should only go 28 days for the following times. Also, need a clear definition of starches... like is 100% ww bread considered a starch? I have a recipe for bread that calls for ww flour, olive oil, salt, yeast, and water- definitely not a simple carbohydrate type. It would be fine on the Zone Diet, in limited quantities, of course. Also, is it ok to just wait 6 weeks between protocols or should the time between be extended with each go round? I think I'm looking at 3 or 4 to get down to a normal weight.
On a positive note, I wore my 'someday' skirt to Church on Sunday and, on Monday, one of the ladies at the office told me she could tell I had lost weight. Nice to hear! Gotta celebrate the successes. :)
